IN PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA:

Community mental health organizations are private nonprofit options for those with serious and persistent mental illness who cannot afford the full cost of private care. Service providers in our local area include the following organizations:

Serving all ages of upper Pinellas County residents (Clearwater, Largo, Tarpon Springs) with a broad range of prevention, intervention and non-residential treatment programs offered free, or by sliding scale or discounted but fixed fees.

Gulf Coast Community Care (727) 538-7460
Providing adults, children and families with quality, cost-effective community-based emotional well-being services in Pinellas County, with an emphasis on a continuum of care for HIV+ AIDS, geriatric, and homeless populations.

Harbor Behavioral Health Care Outpatient

Serving New Port Richey area with community mental health services as well as 24-hour emergency, detoxification, and vocational rehab services.

Serving the mental health needs of all ages for the south section of Pinellas County (St. Petersburg, etc.).

Some people may not be eligible for some of the subsidized services of community mental health organizations. If seeking private care, talk to your primary physician, HMO, a mental health professional, hospital clinic, university/hospital psychiatric or medical school, private clinic, or family social service agency. Some people also seek referrals through trusted clergy, school counselors, and friends who have utilized services.
